Denplan

Patients who are dentally fit are free to join Denplan Care, this would normally require assessment of a patient's oral health first. The membership charge for Denplan Care is based on the condition of a patient's mouth, your dentist will be able to advise you of this after assessment.

The overriding principle behind Denplan Care is prevention of dental disease and maintenance of good oral health. Denplan Care is not simply a payment management scheme but embodies a whole ethos of preventive care for it's members, Denplan actively monitor the care provided and encourage member dentists to develop their own professional development and skills.

Denplan Care covers all general dental care offered by us e.g. examinations, x-rays, hygienist, gum care, preventive advice, fillings, crowns, and dentures etc., in other words all normal dental care you would expect in a general dental practice. Denplan Care does not however cover cosmetic treatment or care not normally carried out within a normal general dental practice e.g. dental technicians/ laboratory charges, specialist referrals (e.g. for surgery, specialist gum care, specialist care of complex root fillings, orthodontics) or the provision of surgical implants. Laboratory charges are usually covered in the event of injury from an external source (additional cover to include surgical implant following injury is available).

Denplan Care do provide cover for emergency care out of normal surgery hours, this carries a small excess charge. Denplan Care also provides worldwide emergency dental cover.

Princes Street Dental Practice was one of the first dental practices in the country to be awarded Denplan Care's prestigious Denplan Excel accreditation.

Denplan Excel Accreditation Programme

Denplan Excel is an accreditation programme designed for your dentist and it brings you as a patient many benefits.

Denplan Excel gives you the reassurance that your dentist is practising in line with current good practice. You will receive an Oral Health Score from your dentist, this is a score out of 100 and will indicate how healthy your teeth and gums are. We hope you will have an improved understanding of the care and treatment available to you helping you to maintain and improve your oral health. You will be more involved more closely in any consultation in deciding your care and treatments. You will have an improved relationship with your dentist through better communication and greater involvement in your own oral health. A patient survey gives you the opportunity to give your feedback on the care and service your practice provides. By joining the programme, your dentist has committed to keep you well informed about your care and treatment.

The Denplan Excel accreditation programme is supported by the Patients Association.
